BRE365 Soakage Test
One test pit, up to 3 repeat tests, up to 2 days. 1no machine excavated trial pit max 1.50m long, 2.00m deep and 0.45m wide. Up to 3 repeat tests up to 2 days duration total.

Foundation Exposures
1no hand excavated trial pit to expose existing footings, for instance where excavation is required below or adjacent to an existing building or boundary wall, etc. Excavation 1.50m deep, 0.50m wide and up to 1.00m away from the wall.

Full Phase 1 Desk Study
A full phase 1 environmental report including Conceptual Site Model (CSM), Preliminary Risk Assessment (PRA) and recommendations for any intrusive investigation required. Includes a full Envirocheck datasheet and historical map pack, a walkover survey and a review of aerial imagery.

In-Situ CBR Testing
Carry out 3no CBR tests using a TRL DCP adjacent to existing borehole locations.

Package A
Suitable for a mid-sized outbuilding or extension up to 46m2 (500ft2) ground floor area, for example a kitchen-diner, double garage, garden studio or small outdoor pool. Not suitable for a new house. Five-week turnaround from instruction. Unrestricted access. Includes:
- Boreholes: 2no window sampler boreholes (3-5m deep)
- In-situ testing: shear strength and/or dynamic probe strength testing (as appropriate)
- Soakage test: 1no preliminary falling head soakage test
- Laboratory testing: 4no geotechnical classification tests (plasticity index, sulphate, etc.)
- Reporting: Interpretive geotechnical report with desk study, foundation options, design parameters for shallow footings, CBR values, soakage potential and excavation stability.
Package B
Suitable for a smaller sized house or other similar-sized building up to 92m2 (1000ft2) ground floor area with the equivalent of 3-4 downstairs reception rooms. Five-week turnaround from instruction. Unrestricted access. Includes:
- Boreholes: 3no window sampler boreholes (3-5m deep)
- In-situ testing: shear strength and/or dynamic probe strength testing (as appropriate)
- Soakage test: 1no preliminary falling head soakage test
- Laboratory testing: 6no geotechnical classification tests (plasticity index, sulphate, etc.)
- Reporting: Interpretive geotechnical report with desk study, foundation options, design parameters for shallow footings, CBR values, soakage potential and excavation stability.
Package C
Suitable for a larger house, pair of semi-detached houses, a bungalow or other similar-sized building up to 186m2 (2000ft2) ground floor area, with the equivalent of 5-6 downstairs rooms. Unrestricted access. Five-week turnaround from instruction. Includes:
- Boreholes: 4no window sampler boreholes (between 3-5m deep)
- In-situ testing: shear strength and/or dynamic probe strength testing (as appropriate)
- Soakage test: 1no preliminary falling head soakage test
- Laboratory testing: 8no geotechnical classification tests (plasticity index, sulphate, etc.)
- Reporting: Interpretive geotechnical report with desk study, foundation options, design parameters for shallow footings, CBR values, soakage potential and excavation stability.
Water Monitoring
Recommended for all projects with deeper excavations (e.g. all sites with a basement, swimming pool) cut into a slope (e.g. to create a level area), or where there are there issues with shallow groundwater (e.g. on flat low-lying ground near rivers, etc.). One 5m deep monitoring well and one return monitoring visit.
